CLINTON, N.Y. -- Junior

GAME HIGHLIGHTS:
* Senior
Greg McGunigle put Amherst up on the board first Friday, just 2:07 into the game when he tracked down a puck dumped into the Hamilton zone and, from deep in the right corner, threw the puck on goal. It hit the skate or pad of the Hamilton goalie at the near post and hopped over both and into the goal for a 1-0 lead.Â
* The game was 1-1 in the second frame when
Bobby Luca gave Amherst a lead it would not relinquish. The Mammoths had possession behind the goal and
Ryan Tucker wrapped a pass back along the left boards. McGunigle skated onto it and one-time a shot immediately. Luca was on the doorstep of the Continentals'Â goal and deflected the puck past the goaltender for the 2-1 lead.Â
* Wisco made 29 of his 37 saves in the first two periods, then added eight more in the final stanza as the Mammoths fought to keep the lead. The Continentals were on the power play for the first 1:54 of the period but Wisco stopped the only shot he saw in that time period. The Continentals had two more man-up power plays in the game, the final one beginning with 57 seconds left in the game. With the goalie pulled for an extra skater, Hamilton had a 6-on-4 opportunity, but the only shot on goal was stopped by Wisco with one second left.Â
