MIDDLEBURY, Vt. – Sophomore
Camden Heafitz leads the field with several other members of the Amherst College men's track and field team in contention after the first day of the heptathlon kicked off the Middlebury Winter Classic on Friday at Virtue Field House.
Through four of seven events, Heafitz leads with 2,483 points, just 10 points ahead of Middlebury first-year Quinn Kennedy. Three other Mammoths round out the top five as first-year
Zach Villegas has 2,216 points to rank third in his collegiate debut, senior
Max Spelke is in fourth with 2,092 points and sophomore
Alex Robin is fifth with 2,086 points.
Heafitz won the long jump and the high jump, setting a personal best with a 2.01m mark in the high jump.
The heptathlon concludes tomorrow (Saturday, Jan. 21) at 9 a.m. to begin a full day of track and field action at Middlebury.
