Three Mammoths add All-New England honors as New England Division III Championships conclude

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – Three more athletes from the Amherst College men's track and field team earned All-New England honors as the New England Division III Championships concluded on Saturday at Williams College.

First-year Camden Heafitz led the way with a second-place finish in the high jump to earn All-New England honors, awarded to the top eight finishers in each event.

The Mammoths are back in action next weekend, taking on the best in New England from all three NCAA divisions at the NEICAAA Outdoor Championships, beginning on Friday (May 13) at 1 p.m. at Bryant University.

MEET HIGHLIGHTS:

* First-year Camden Heafitz cleared 1.96m to match his personal best and finish second in the high jump. He earned All-New England honors for the second time after finishing sixth in the high jump at the this year's indoor championship. Sophomore Gabriel dos Santos cleared 1.86m to finish sixth and earn his first All-New England award.

* Senior Henry Buren earned All-New England honors in the 100m, finishing seventh in the finals with a time of 14.66 seconds after running a time of 10.97 in the prelims.

* Only seven Mammoths competed at the meet and the Mammoths finished 17th among 31 teams who scored with 13.5 points. MIT won the championship with 132.5 points.
