WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – Junior decathlete
Max Spelke earned All-New England honors to kick off action for the Amherst College men's track and field team at the New England Division III Championships on Friday at Williams College.
The two-day decathlon concluded with Spelke finishing seventh with a personal-best score of 5325 points, which included a second-place finish in the shot put and personal bests in the 100m, 400m, 1500m, long jump, javelin and pole vault. Spelke earned his first career All-New England honor, awarded to the top eight finishers in each event.
Senior sprinter
Henry Buren finished second in the 100m dash prelims with a time of 10.97 seconds to advance to Saturday's final.
The championships continue with a full slate of action on Saturday (May 7) beginning at 10 a.m.
