SMITHFIELD, R.I. – First-year
Julia Schor won the 1500m to highlight action for the Amherst College women's track and field team at the NEICAAA Outdoor Championships on Friday and Saturday at Bryant University.
The meet is open to New England schools from all three NCAA divisions with All-NEICAAA honors awarded to the top eight finishers in each event.
The Mammoths will be back in action this week to tune up and attempt to add more qualifiers for the NCAA Championships at the Williams Final Qualifier on Wednesday (May 18) and the MIT Final Qualifier on Thursday (May 19).
MEET HIGHLIGHTS:
* Schor ran a personal-best time of 4:35.70 in the 1500m to top the field that included mostly Division I runners.
* Junior
Sophia Wolmer finished sixth in the 5000m to earn All-NEICAAA honors in her NEICAAA debut with a time of 17:20.13.
* First-year
Eliza Cardwell rank the 400m hurdles in 1:03.62 in the preliminaries to finish seventh and qualify for the finals but did not race in the finals.
* Schor and Wolmer earned 13 points for the Mammoths to finish tied for 21st in the 53-team field. UMass Amherst won the meet with 74.75 points.
