AMHERST, Mass. – The Amherst College women's track and field team won nine events and first-year
Eve Giancarlo matched the Amherst pole vault record to highlight action at the Amherst Spring Fling, hosted by Amherst on Saturday at the Neuhoff-Lumley Track, Hitchcock Field and Coolidge Cage.
The Mammoths are back in action next weekend, competing in the Silfen Invitational at Connecticut College on Saturday, April 16, at 9 a.m.
MEET HIGHLIGHTS:
* First-year
Eliza Cardwell won both the 100m hurdles and 400m hurdles, qualifying for the NEICAAA Championships in her first collegiate race in both events. She finished the 100m hurdles in 14.57 and clocked a 1:04.74 in the 400m hurdles with both times among the top 20 nationally in Division III. First-year
Julia Zacher set a personal-best 15.91 to finish fourth in the 100m hurdles, first-year
Lindsay Ward qualified for the New England Division III Championships in her collegiate debut with a time of 15.98 that ranked sixth and first-year
Anaya Thomas finished seventh with a personal-best 16.13. In the 400m hurdles, junior
Ava Tillman finished third with a personal-best time of 1:06.50 and first-year
Artis Phillips set her collegiate-best mark with a fourth-place finish in 1:07.79.

Mary Kate McGranahan won the 3000m steeplechase with a personal-best time of 11:29.22 to qualify for the NEICAAA Championships and rank among the top 20 nationally. First-year
Claire Callon qualified for the New England Division III Championships with a time of 11:54.48 to finish fourth in her first collegiate steeplechase.
* Zacher won the high jump, clearing 1.67m, a season-best mark that ranks in the top 10 nationally. Junior
Annelise Romero took second with a mark of 1.52m

Sidnie Kulik won the 1500m run, qualifying for the New England Division III Championships with a time of 4:41.47 that ranks in the top 20 nationally in her first collegiate race at that distance. Junior
Sophia Wolmer also qualified for New Englands with a personal-best time of 4:45.86 that was good for fourth place.

Deb Thayer won the discus with a personal-best mark of 34.75m to qualify for the New England Division III Championships.
* The Mammoths claimed the top two spots in the 4x400m relay. Seniors
Anna Madden and
Juanita Jaramillo teamed with first-years
Casie Eifrig and
Julia Schor to take the top spot in 4:06.03, while Tillman, sophomore
Nicole Barbaro, senior
Sam Tichelaar and first-year
Ava Zielinski finished second in 4:08.74.

Muffie Mazambani won the triple jump with a mark of 10.91m.

Bethany Martin won the hammer with a throw of 41.07m.

Jordan Hecker set on Sunday. Giancarlo finished second while Hecker and sophomore
Mia Bawendi tied for fifth with a mark of 3.25m.
* Schor and fellow first-year
Margo Pedersen each qualified for the New England Division III Championships in their first collegiate outdoor 800m run. Schor finished second at 2:16.53 and Pedersen was third in 2:16.98 with both times ranking in the top 20 nationally in Division III.
* Tichelaar qualified for the New England Division III Championships in the long jump with a jump of 5.28m.
* Junior
Amerley Lokko ran a personal-best 12.54 to finish second in the 100m dash.
* In the 400m dash, Madden finished second in 58.33 and Eifrig was third with a collegiate-best 58.83.
