The Mammoths won three events on the second day of competition at the Silfen Invitational as the Amherst College men's track and field team was in action at Connecticut College while two decathletes competed at the Williams Invitational on Saturday.
Senior
Henry Buren won the 100m, junior
Ellis Phillips-Gallucci won the 400m hurdles and the Mammoths won the 4x800m relay in Connecticut.
The Mammoths will be back in action on Saturday, April 23, competing in the Sean Collier Invitational at MIT.
MEET HIGHLIGHTS:
* Buren won the 100m in 10.63 seconds, a time that is better than his school-record mark of 10.80 that he set in 2019, but with a tailwind measured at 2.9 m/s for the heat, his time is not eligible for records. Buren's time is valid for qualification purposes and currently ranks in the top 20 nationally in Division III so far this season, while also qualifying him for the NEICAAA Championship. Buren was third in the 200m with a wind-aided time of 22.06.
* Phillips-Gallucci won the 400m hurdles with a time of 56.08 in his first race of the year and sophomore
Alton Machen was fourth at 57.76 in his first collegiate start in the event. Both Mammoths qualified for the New England Division III Championships with their times. Machen was also fourth in the 110m hurdles, setting a new personal best of 15.86 seconds.

Wilson Spurrell teamed up to win the 4x800m relay in 8:03.93.

Kelechi Eziri finished second in the triple jump and qualified for the NEICAAA Championship with a wind-aided mark of 14.40m that ranks among the top 10 nationally in Division III.
* Sophomore
Gabriel dos Santos ranked second in the high jump, matching his personal best by clearing 1.90m to qualify for the New England Division III Championship.
* First-year
David Brown qualified for the New England Division III Championship in the shot put with a throw of 13.67m to finish fifth. Brown was also fifth in the discus with a mark of 40.44m.
* First-year
Alex Robin finished third in the pole vault with a season-best mark of 4.00m.
* The quartet of Mammoths that set a school record in the 4x100m relay last weekend at Amherst teamed up again with Buren, sophomore

Matthew Gelin and first-year
Theodore Woodward clocking a time of 43.86 to finish fifth.
* In the decathlon at Williams, juniors
Jack Trent and
Max Spelke each qualified for the New England Division III Championship in their first collegiate decathlon competition. Trent finished second with 6055 points, a top-10 national score in Division III this season, and Spelke was third with 4977 points.
* The Mammoths finished as runners-up in the 20-team field at the Silfen Invitational. Amherst scored 109 points while Tufts won the meet with 125 points.
