PHILADELPHIA, PA -- Junior
Adam Lichtmacher of the Amherst College men's squash team won his consolation match for the second straight day to advance in the College Squash Association (CSA) National Collegiate Individual Championships on Friday at the Specter US Squash Center.
Lichtmacher moves on to the consolation final of the men's Molloy East bracket. He will battle the University of Rochester's Luis Enrique Gonzalez Moncada at 2 p.m. The winner places 9th overall.
Competing as the 14th seed in the Molloy East bracket, Lichtmacher fell in three games in his opening match against third-seeded Karim Elbarbary of Princeton. Moving on to the quarterfinals of the consolation bracket, Lichtmacher rebounded with an 11-7, 9-11, 11-9, 11-6 win over 11th-seeded Jesper Phillips of Bates.
Saturday, Lichtmacher took on Brown University's Grant Sherman in the semifinals on the Molloy East Consolation Bracket. He took game one 11-8 and then game two 11-7 to build a commanding lead in the best of five games set. After dropping the third game, 11-6, Lichtmacher ended the match demonstratively with an 11-4 win in the fourth and deciding game.
