MEDFORD, Mass. -- Several qualifying times for the New England Indoor Championships as well as season and personal best times highlighted the Amherst College women's track and field team participation at the Tufts Cupid Challenge on Saturday at the Gantcher Center.
MEET HIGHLIGHTS
* The trio of
Anna Madden (59.04),
Juanita Jaramillo (59.11) and
Casie Eifrig (59.75) each had personal and season best times in the 400-meter dash while finishing second, third and fourth, respectively. All three times were worthy of qualifying forthe indoor New England championships as well. Madden, Jaramillo and Eifrig later joined forces with Katie Lingren to win the TCC 4x400 relay event with a time of 3:59.22.
* First year
Eliza Cardwell won the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.04 seconds, one-half a second off her best time of 8.99 seconds set last week in Middlebury. Cardwell had a third-place finish in the long jump as well with a New England qualifying distance of 18 feet, 3 inches. That was a personal and season-best distance for Cardwell as well.
* Lingren finished third with a season best time of 1:39.01 in the 600-meter run, while
Ava Tillman was ninth with a time of 1:42.00. Both times were NE championship qualifying times.
* In the high jump, first year
Julia Zacher was second with a height clearance of 5 feet, 5 inches. Anaya Thomas was 8th as she cleared a distance of 4-9 1/2.
* In the 5,000-meter run,
Claire Callon ran the event for the first time this season and placed third with a time of 18:42.60. In the 3,000-meter,
Sophia Wolmer was fourth in 10:13.39 while
Sophia Price was 9th in 10:40.48 and
Eline Laurent 11th in 10:52.62. Wolmer's time was a New England qualifying time. In the 1,000-meter run,
Sylvan Wold was fourth in 3:08.05, while Gigi Chroppa was 7th with a time of 3:18.27. Wold's time qualified her for the 2022 indoor New England championships.

Julia Schor was third in the 800 with a time of 2:19.98 and
Ava Zielinski fourth in 2:20.37. Both of those times qualified that pair for the New England championships.
* On Friday, both
Trintje Nydam and
Annelise Romero participated in the pentathlon. Nydam was second with 2,866 points and Romero fourth with 2,309 points. Romero won the shot put during the pentathlon with a heave of 30 feet, 5 inches..
