Mammoths rally for 5-4 win over Williams to finish season 13th in the nation

BOSTON – In the final match on court with the score tied at 4-4, All-NESCAC junior Lauren Weil captured a four-game win at the #3 spot to provide the decisive point and lift the Amherst College women's squash team to a come-from-behind 5-4 win over archrival Williams College in the fifth-place match of the CSA Kurtz Cup tournament on Sunday afternoon at Harvard University's Murr Center.

With the win, the Mammoths finish the team season ranked 13th in the nation with a record of 12-7, Amherst's best finish since 2010. The Kurtz Cup is the College Squash Association's B Division tournament for teams ranked 9th through 16th in the nation. Final rankings for the season are determined by placement in the tournament.

The Mammoths earned their first win over Williams in over 10 years, avenging a 5-4 loss from two weeks ago in the third-place game of the NESCAC Tournament, though none of the individual matches today were rematches of that meeting.

The Mammoths will wrap up the season next weekend at the CSA National Collegiate Individual Championships in Philadelphia.
