PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Four student-athletes from the Amherst College women's squash team have been named Scholar-Athletes by the College Squash Association (CSA). Seniors Alexandra Brown (Victoria, British Columbia) and Lily Thomas (Somerset, England), and juniors Quincy Cline (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and Suriaya Khan Suri (New York, N.Y.) each earned the honor this season.

The CSA Scholar-Athlete Award is awarded to juniors and seniors with a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.5 who have played for at least two seasons and played in a top-10 ladder position for the majority of matches this season.

Brown, an English and film and media studies double major, earned her second straight CSA Scholar-Athlete recognition and her second All-NESCAC Second Team honor this season. She went 4-10 on the year working in the middle of the Amherst ladder, securing a number of important wins throughout the year.

Thomas, an economics major, appeared in two matches this past season.

Suri, a neuroscience major, appeared in one match this season, and won the match.

Cline, a political science major, put in another All-NESCAC First Team performance this season, earning the second selection of her career for her play. She led the team from the top of the ladder, going 11-9 overall at both the No. 1 and No. 2 spots. One of her best performances came against Georgetown, where she gutted out a decisive 3-2 win to help the Mammoths to a 5-4 victory.

The Mammoths finished their season 15-6 overall record and 9-0 in the NESCAC to earn the second seed in the conference tournament, where they made a run to the semifinal. They finished the season ranked No. 12 in the nation after a sixth-place finish in the Howe Cup at CSA Nationals this past weekend.
