#10 Mammoths fall 7-2 to Tufts in Howe Cup Consolation Play

PHILADELPHIA, PA — The #10 Amherst College women's squash team closed out its 2025–26 campaign with a hard-fought 7–2 defeat to #12 Tufts in the double consolation match of the Howe Cup on Saturday at the Arlen Specter US Squash Center. The nation's top 12 teams competed over the weekend in the premier national team event, and while Amherst could not overcome Tufts' depth in their third meeting of the season, the Mammoths finish strong at 15–6 after peaking at a #7 national ranking during a standout year.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Kenzy Elkaliuoby delivered a clean straight-sets win at #3 singles over Maria Arseniev (11–6, 11–7, 11–9) in 28 minutes, giving Amherst an early middle-order boost. 

  • Brigid Brandon rallied to a victory at #8 against Anika Parr (11–5, 11–7, 9–11, 11–6) in 32 minutes to get Amherst's second win of the day.

This marked the third meeting between the rivals this year: Amherst won the regular-season clash, Tufts took the NESCAC semifinals, and the Jumbos now claim the Howe Cup consolation match to close out a milestone weekend. For Amherst, it caps a strong 2025-2026 season highlighted by a #7 high ranking, quality wins, and a 15-6 record.
