BRUNSWICK, Maine – Three Mammoths won their events to highlight action for the Amherst College men's track and field team in the final chance to qualify for New Englands at the Lynn Ruddy Invitational on Saturday at Bowdoin College's Farley Field House.
Junior
Owen Daily led a strong Amherst contingent in the mile, sophomore
Kolya Markov-Riss won the 600m and sophomore
Wilson Spurrell captured the 800m.
The Mammoths, ranked second in the Mideast Region in the latest USTFCCCA regional rankings, will be back in action next weekend, competing for New England titles at the New England Division III Indoor Championships at Middlebury College on Feb. 25-26.

Billy Massey finished second with a season-best 4:21.55, sophomore
Theo Dassin was fourth at 4:23.16 in his first collegiate start in the event, first-year Alex Rich finished fifth with a collegiate-best 4:23.54 and junior
Will Merhige finished sixth with a personal-best 4:23.81.
* Markov-Riss won the 600m with a personal-best time of 1:22.95, the second race he's won in three starts at that distance this season.
* Spurrell won the 800m in a collegiate-best time of 1:55.63, his second win in three 800m starts in his debut collegiate season.

Gent Malushaga was second in the 1000m with a collegiate-best time of 2:34.73 and sophomore
Ian Dopp qualified for New Englands with his time of 2:38.47 in his first collegiate start in the event.
* Junior
Keon Mazdisnian qualified for New Englands in the 3000m with a personal-best time of 8:43.44, good for a second-place finish.
* First-year
David Brown punched his ticket to New Englands with a throw of 14.00m in the shot put to finish third.
