Mammoths settle for 4th-place finish at NESCAC Tournament following 5-4 thriller with Williams

CLINTON, NY -- The battle for third place at the 2022 NESCAC Tournament came down to old rivals Williams and Amherst Sunday and at the end of the trilling match, the Mammoths fell by a 5-4 score. 

Amherst (10-6) awaits its seeding for the CSA National Team Championships which be played beginning Feb. 25-27 and hosted by Harvard and Tufts. 

MATCH HIGHLIGHTS:

* Daksha Pathak picked up a win at #1, defeating Haley Jefferson by an 11-2, 11-8, 11-6 score. Tana DeLalio gave the Mammoths big win at #3 when she defeated Yu Quan Ng in four games, 6-11, 11-8, 11-8, 11-7). At #4, Lauren Weil swept Kathryn Wright, 11-2, 11-4, 11-4. The Mammoths fourth win came at #6 where Keeley Osborn battled game after game to pull out a thrilling 5-game match, 9-11, 11-5, 11-6, 12-14, 11-9).

* Mammoths Callie DeLalio and Blair Englert had similarly hard-fought battles at #8 and #2, ultimately falling in the fifth game to their opponent.
