MIDDLEBURY, Vt. – Senior
Henry Buren swept the two sprints as the Amherst College men's track and field team won five events at the Middlebury Field and Track Meet on Saturday at Virtue Field House.
The Mammoths finished second in a field of eight behind only Merrimack, which is in transition from Division II to Division I. Amherst will be back in action next weekend, competing at the Lynn Ruddy Invitational at Bowdoin College.
MEET HIGHLIGHTS
* Buren swept the sprints with times of 7.10 in the 60m and 22.97 in the 200m. Classmate
Troy Colleran qualified for the New England Division III Championships in the 60m dash, winning his preliminary heat in 7.14 before sitting out the final.
* First-year
Jack O'Hara won the 400m in his first collegiate start at the distance, crossing in 53.10 for his first collegiate win.
* Junior
Keon Mazdisnian won the mile in 4:28.76 in his first race at the distance this season after previously winning the 5000m on the same track last month at the Middlebury Winterfell.
* Sophomore
Gabriel dos Santos won the high jump with a personal-best mark of 1.90m to qualify for New Englands.
