MIDDLEBURY, Vt. – Sophomore Muffie Mazambani won two events and first-year Eliza Cardwell posted a dominating win in the 60m hurdles as Amherst College women's track and field team won four events at the Middlebury Field and Track Meet on Saturday at Virtue Field House.

First-year Jordan Hecker tied the Amherst school record in the pole vault and the Mammoths earned a win in the distance medley relay as well.

The Mammoths finished third in a field of eight that included Merrimack, which is in transition from Division II to Division I. Amherst will be back in action next weekend, competing at the Lynn Ruddy Invitational at Bowdoin College.

MEET HIGHLIGHTS

* Mazambani, also an All-Region field hockey player for the Mammoths, won both the long jump and the triple jump with personal-best marks of 5.18m in the long jump and 11.15m in the triple jump.

* Cardwell won the 60m hurdles with a collegiate-best time of 8.92, tied for the 10th-best time in Division III this season. The top 20 student-athletes in each event at the end of the season earn a berth in the NCAA Championships.
