CLINTON, N.Y. -- The #14-ranked Amherst College women's squash team knocked off Bates in the quarterfinals of the New England Small College Athletic Conference Saturday at the Little Squash Center on the campus of Hamilton College before eventually succumbing to Trinity, 9--0, in the NESCAC semifinals played in the afternoon.
Fourth-seeded Amherst, now 10-5, will play third-seeded Williams Sunday at 12 p.m. in the third-place match.Â
In the win over Bates,
Daksha Pathak had a tremendous win at #1, defeating Andrea Martagon in four games, 15-13, 11-7, 7-11 and 11-6.
Callie DeLalio improved to 12-2 on the season with a 11-5, 11-4, 11-9 sweep of Maria Parker-Schmidt at #2. At #6,
Keeley Osborn displayed her mettle, outlasting Cordelia Dotson in five games, 8-11, 11-9, 8-11, 14-12, 11-9. At #8,
Blair Englert moved to 4-0 on the season with a 3-1 win over Zaya Rothenberg, winning the opening game 14-12. Up two games to one, she finished off her for with an 11-0 win in the fourth game.Â
