AMHERST, Mass. — The #18 Amherst College men's squash team opened their season with a closely-fought win versus the #24 Hobart College Statesmen, 5-4, on the Davenport Squash Courts on Saturday afternoon.
The Mammoths will be back in action in a week's time. They will look to double their 1-0 record when they play against the #26 Hamilton College Continentals (who have a 0-2 so far this season) at the Little Squash Center in Clinton, NY on Saturday, December 3.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS:
* It was either junior
Neal Malani or sophomore
Abhi Gupta who clinched the match as they finished in quick succession to earn Amherst's fourth and fifth wins of the afternoon.
* Gupta produced an amazing comeback where he came back from two sets down to win - saving three match balls in the process.
* Amherst enjoyed three straight set wins at the #3 and #8 thanks to Malani and senior
Andrew Leung.
