Track & Field Garners Team, Individual All-Academic Accolades

AMHERST, Mass. – The Amherst College men's & women's track & field teams and 13 individual student-athletes garnered U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic honors for their excellence in the classroom and on the circle in 2021.

To be named an USTFCCCA All-Academic Team, a program must boast a cumulative team GPA of at least a 3.1 on a 4.0 scale through the most recent semester. Totaling a team GPA of 3.66, the Mammoths' men's program ranked ninth in all of Division III, while the women's team's 3.73 GPA landed inside the top-25 in the nation.

Individually, 13 student-athletes earned recognition for their work in the classroom and on the track, with nine women and four men capturing USTFCCCA All-Academic praise.

To qualify for USTFCCCA Individual All-Academic honors, student-athletes must have compiled a cumulative GPA of at least 3.30 while also reaching the athletic standard of either competing at the 2021 NCAA Outdoor Championships or finishing the regular season ranked inside the national top-50 in an individual event or in the national top-35 in a relay event. In total, over 450 men and 650 women earned the distinction.

On the women's side, first-years Carolina Andrade and Ally Deegan, sophomore Sophia Wolmer (Neuroscience-Philosophy), juniors Juanita Jaramillo (Economics-Psychology), Anna Madden (Biology-Psychology), Sam Tichelaar (Biology) and Katie Lingen (Biology), and seniors Lauren Lamb (American Studies) and Ella Rossa (Psychology) claimed the honor, while sophomore Ellis Phillips-Gallucci (Philosophy), juniors Henry Buren (Philosophy) and Troy Colleran (Chemistry), and senior Ryan Prenosil (Psychology) earned the accolade for the men's program.

Amherst closed out the 2021 season with two All-Americans and 19 All-Region honorees while qualifying seven for the NCAA Championships.
