MIDDLEBURY, Vt. -- First-year Tor Metelmann won two individual races to help the Amherst College men's swimming and diving team to a 172-122 win over NESCAC foe Middlebury College on Saturday at the Middlebury Natatorium.
The Mammoths (3-0), ranked 18th in the nation in the latest CSCAA Division III poll, won their fourth straight dual meet dating back to last season while the Panthers (0-2) remain winless this season.
The Mammoths are off until 2022, opening the new year with a dual meet against Union on New Year's Day at Pratt Pool.
MEET HIGHLIGHTS
- Metelmann led strong Amherst showings in both of his wins as Mammoths took the top five spots in the 100-yard breaststroke and the top four spots in the 200-yard individual medley.
- The Mammoths swept the distance races as sophomore William Taylor won the 500-yard freestyle and first-year Andrew Bernstein won at 1000 yards.
- Senior Gary Sun won the 200-yard breaststroke to complete an Amherst sweep of the breaststroke races as Mammoths finished in the top four spots.
- Sophomore Tyler Knightly won the 100-yard freestyle as the Mammoths took the top three spots.
- Sophomore Kenneth Woodsum led a Mammoths sweep of the top three spots in the 100-yard butterfly.
- Sophomore Nolan Scanlan won the 200-yard backstroke, touching in 1:53.90.
- Junior Samson Flagg won the 3-meter diving event with a score of 201.07.
