MIDDLETOWN, Conn. -- The Amherst men's swimming and diving team won its second dual meet this week, posting a 163-123 win over Little Three rival Wesleyan on Monday at the Wesleyan Natatorium. Senior captain Scott Romeyn won the 100-yard and 200-yard freestyle and was part of the winning 200-yard medley relay team.
The Mammoths (2-0), ranked 18th in the latest CSCAA Division III poll, defeat the Cardinals (1-2) for the 29th straight season to kick off the competition for the Little Three title, which will be decided on Jan. 8 when Amherst visits Williams. Amherst is back in action on Saturday, Dec. 4, visiting NESCAC rival Middlebury for a 1 p.m. dual meet.
MEET HIGHLIGHTS
- In a meet that highlighted races at the shorter distances, first-year Andrew Yuen won the 50-yard backstroke and 50-yard freestyle races.
- Classmate Tor Metelmann won the 50-yard breastroke, leading a Mammoth sweep of the top five spots in the event.
- Senior captain Malcolm Scannell won the 100-yard breastroke, Junior Christian Moy won the 50-yard butterfly and sophomore William Taylor won the 500-yard freestyle
