AMHERST, Mass. – Battling to back-to-back 3-1 victories, the Amherst College volleyball team swept their weekend series against NESCAC foes, downing Connecticut College and Wesleyan University on the road.
With the wins, Amherst improves to 10-1 on the season and to 5-1 in league play. The Mammoths return to the court on Tuesday, October 12 when they travel to Emmanuel for a 7:00PM bout.
MATCH ONE: Amherst 3, Connecticut College 1
- As a team, Amherst owned the advantage in kills, 54-45, assists, 51-43, and digs, 90-75. Both sides registered five blocks in the contest.
- Senior Jamie Dailey led all players in the kills (14), aces (2), digs (21), and points (16.5), while Carly Cooper '24 racked up a match-high 44 assists.
- With a standout .417 attack percentage, Sophie Launsbach '22 led all players in the category while notching 12 kills and three blocks.
- Christina Leduc's 13 kills were a Camels' high, while Natasha Shrivastava (40) and Julia Dailey (27) led the match in assists and digs, respectively.
MATCH TWO: Amherst 3, Wesleyan 1
- Notching a .232 attack percentage, Amherst bested the Cardinals in points, 72-69, despite the home team holding the edge in kills (62-57), assists (60-52), and digs (100-93).
- Launsbach (17), Dailey (16), and Caroline Tilton '23 (11) paced the Mammoths in kills, while Cooper and Lizzie Papalia '25 posted Amherst-highs in assists (46) and digs (23), respectively.
- Maddie Kurke's 21 kills led all players, while Maya Lopansri and Jenna Otaola posted contest-highs in assists (48) and digs (28), respectively.
