Box Score SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The No. 11 Amherst College women's lacrosse team used two goals each from Rachel Passarelli '16, Mia Haughton '16, and Kate Wyeth '17 to help the Purple & White pull away to an 8-3 non-conference victory in Wednesday evening's non-conference game at Stagg Field in Springfield, Mass.

FIRST HALF HIGHLIGHTS
- The start of the contest featured stellar defensive play as the game remained scoreless until the 22:59 mark when Wyeth fired in the first of her two goals following a dish from Hanna Krueger '17 to give Amherst a 1-0 lead.
- Neither team was able to find the back of the net over the next 11 minutes until Passarelli put the Purple & White ahead, 2-0.
- With 4:20 to play in the first stanza, Wyeth added her second goal of the game with an assist from Haughton. Passarelli then struck for her second of the game with just five seconds on the clock to give Amherst a 4-0 lead at intermission.
- The visitors outshot Springfield, 9-3 in the first 30 minutes as the Pride's Gabby Anderson made four of her seven saves in the frame. Christy Forrest '16 stopped all three shots on target that Springfield sent towards the cage.
SECOND HALF HIGHLIGHTS
- A back-and-forth second stanza saw Springfield net first as Kristen Steidler put the Pride on the board with an unassisted score at the 25:14 mark.
- Claire Cagnassola '17 answered for Amherst less than two minutes later before Shelby Corsano delivered a marker just minutes after that to pull the hosts to within three (5-2) with 21:14 remaining in the game.
- At the 9:14 mark, Haughton scored her first of the game on a feed from Coco Kusiak '17, but the Pride's Heather Raniolo responded with a free position goal at 7:44 to keep the gap at three (6-3).
- Haughton fired in an unassisted goal – her second of the contest at the 6:17 mark – and Julia Crerend '18 capitalized on a feed from Devin O'Connor '16 with 3:38 remaining to help the Purple & White close out the win.
- Forrest finished with five saves to seal the victory for Amherst, while Anderson made seven saves in the loss for Springfield.
BY THE NUMBERS
- Forrest picked up a game-high five ground balls while Krueger, O'Connor, and Rowena Scheck '18 added two pickups each. Lindsey Call '19 won three draws for the Purple & White, while Krueger and Cagnassola added two draw controls apiece.
- Anna Mahoney led Springfield with three ground balls, while MK Jaeger Andie Stone and Steidler notched two each. Hyslip led the Pride with two draw controls in the losing effort.
