AMHERST, MA. – Five members of the Amherst College women's lacrosse team were accorded Intercolligiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) All-Berkshire Region honors when they were announced today. Senior attackers
Emily Petersen (Mountain Lakes, N.J.) and
Kate Becker (Princeton, N.J.) and junior midfielder
Mia Raven (Philadelphia, Pa.) were named to the First Team; senior attacker
Bridget Finley (Bronxville, N.Y.) and first year defender
Jordan Kauftheil (South Salem, N.Y.) were selected to the Second Team.
Petersen gets another award after an All-NESCAC First Team performance this season, earning her second IWLCA All-Region honor. She served as one of the Mammoths' primary goalscorers this year, currently sitting at a team-leading 44 goals (fifth in the NESCAC) as well as 5 assists for 49 points (second on the team). Petersen is also a vital part of the team's draw unit, notching a career-high 81 draw controls, which ranks fifth in the conference.
Becker gets her first All-Region nod after a senior season quarterbacking the Mammoth offense has earned her national attention for her passing ability. The senior took her play to another level in 2026, leading the team in points with 54 on 9 goals and a staggering 47 assists to this point, a mark that leads the conference by a significant margin and ranks in the top 25 nationally. She also leads the NESCAC in assists per game at 2.76, is sixth in points per game (3.29) and eighth in total points.
Raven earns her second All-Region selection, and second straight First Team honor, after a successful junior season. She has put up 9 goals and 12 assists on the year and heavily contributed to the Mammoths' ability to gain offensive possessions, with 42 draw controls and 19 ground balls so far. As one of the team's do-it-all midfielders, her impact often extends off stat sheet, with the junior contributing to every possession by breaking down defenses with her blazing speed and dodging ability and helping keep the ball out of the net with her quickness on defense.
Finley gets her second straight All-Region nod with a Second Team selection this year. The senior has maintained her scoring presence in her final collegiate season, sitting second on the team, and sixth in the NESCAC, in goals with 43, third on the team in points with 44, and holds a stellar .606 shot percentage, which leads all players who have played more than five games. She has also been one of the Mammoths' top clutch-time goal-scorers this season, netting two game winners and coming up big in tough games: two of her best performances were a five-goal effort in the team's OT win against Tufts, including scoring the game-tying goal with 4.0 seconds left, and a three-goal outing against Middlebury.
Kauftheil, though only a first year, has quickly become one of the best defenders in the conference this season. Starting every game for the Mammoths, the rookie is leading the team in both big defensive stats: she has recorded 26 caused turnovers and picked up 44 ground balls to this point. She has been a vital piece of an Amherst defense that has held opponents to 129 total goals (third in the NESCAC) for just 7.6 goals per game and a .381 shot percentage.
The Mammoths currently sit at 13-4, having made a NESCAC Quarterfinal appearance and earned a NCAA Tournament berth this season. They will travel to national No. 1 Middlebury for the next rounds of the tournament this weekend. The No. 8 Mammoths will face No. 10 TCNJ in the Sweet Sixteen on Saturday, May 16, with a spot in the NCAA Quarterfinals on the line. The game is slated to begin at 2 p.m. at Peter Kohn Field in Middlebury, Vt.
