AMHERST, Mass. – The No. 4 Amherst College men's tennis team posted an 8-1 victory over NESCAC rival No. 8 Bowdoin College Sunday afternoon in Amherst, Mass.
With the win, Amherst improves to 15-4 overall, 4-0 in league play, while Bowdoin moves to 9-3 on the season, 3-2 in NESCAC action.
Amherst took an early, 3-0 lead after doubles action as the junior tandem of Michael Solimano and Aaron Revzin earned a hard-fought 9-7 win on the No. 1 court. Andrew Yaraghi '16 and Anton Zykov '17 won on the No. 2 court with a score of 8-4, while Andrew Scheiner '15 and Russell Einbinder '16 completed an 8-5 win from the No. 3 court.
In singles play, the Jeffs earned victories from the first five courts with Bowdoin claiming its lone win of the contest from the sixth position.
Yaraghi won his match, 7-5, 6-1, while Solimano earned a three-set win (6-4, 3-6, 10-8) on the No. 1 and No. 2 courts respectively. On court three, Zykov won, 6-1, 6-0, Revzin posted a 6-3, 7-6 win on court four, and Sean Rodriguez '15 notched a 7-5, 6-2 triumph from the No. 5 court.
Amherst returns to NESCAC action Saturday, April 18 when it hosts Williams College at 1 p.m.
