After 11 minutes of scoreless action, Colin Macdonald sent a free kick from outside the box over the Jeffs' heads as it curled into the top right corner of the net past the outstretched arms of Thomas Bull '16.
The Jeffs continued to put the pressure on offensively the remainder of the half. The Golden Bears held Amherst scoreless in the first half as Western New England entered the break ahead, 1-0, despite trailing 13-to-1 in shots.
Roughly nine minutes into the second half, the Jeffs had a great opportunity to even the score when Jae Heo '15E sent a free kick into the front of the box. As the ball curled closer to the goal, Gab Wirz '15 connected on a header but just missed left of the net.
At the 75th minute, Amherst had another great scoring chance as Singer beat Strobel to the ball towards the left post. With the Golden Bears' goalkeeper out of position, Singer sent the ball to the right side but Matthew Chmura was standing there to protect the lead.
Shortly after, the Jeffs placed a series of shots on net as they put heavy pressure on Western New England's defense and eventually tied the game at 1-1. Wirz and Singer found Christopher Martin '17 in a crowded box as the sophomore sent a header into the bottom right corner of the net with 22 minutes remaining in the half.
Roughly 12 minutes later, Wirz punched in the game-winner when a free kick by Bull went to the far corner of the box. Andrew Orozco '17 sent a header to Wirz who then flicked it into the corner of the net to give the Jeffs the 2-1 win.
