Dinzeo, Nuhu, Cherico pick up All-NESCAC Honors

HADLEY, Mass. -- A trio of student-athletes from Justin Serpone's Amherst College men's soccer team have earned 2025 All-NESCAC honors, it was announced this morning. 

Junior forward Mohammed Nuhu (Accra, Ghana) and sophomore defender Jacob Dinzeo (Stillwater, MN) were chosen 1st Team All-NESCAC while sophomore midfielder Michael Cherico (Fountain Valley, CA) was a 2nd Team All-NESCAC selection. 

Nuhu was honored for the third straight year. He was the NESCAC Rookie fo the Year in 2023, and has been a 1st Team All-NESCAC selections all three years in a Mammoth uniform. To date he has six goals and three assists for 15 points, with four of his six goals of the game-winning variety. In his career to date, Nuhu has 25 goals and 15 assists for 65 points in 59 games played. Of his 25 goals, 12 have been game winners. 

Both Dinzeo and Cherico were honored by the conference's coaches for the first time in their careers. Dinzeo has anchored a defensive effort that has seen the Mammoths allow 15 goals in 16 games to date, or 0.94 per game, starting 13 games and playing in 14 this season. Cherico is a very skilled player in the midfield, especially in the air. Although injuries limited to 13 games, 11 of which he started, he still earned a spot on the 2nd Team. He has 1 goal and 1 assist this season. 

The Mammoths, the defending Div. III national champions, are off to SUNY-Cortland this weekend for first and second round play in the 2025 NCAA Tournament. Amherst will face Catholic University at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.
