WENHAM, Mass. – The fourth-ranked Amherst College men's soccer team improved to 6-0-0 with a 4-1 win at Gordon College's Brigham Athletic Complex Wednesday evening. Four Lord Jeffs recorded a goal, while goalkeeper Brandon Saldana '13 (Garden City, N.Y.) earned his first collegiate victory.

With the Lord Jeffs storming out of the gates to control much of the possession and apply heavy offensive pressure, it took just 12 minutes for them to tally their first of three goals in the half when Brendan Caslin '14 (Lincoln, Mass.) finished a Jae Heo '14 (Changwon, South Korea) pass for the early 1-0 lead.

Caslin's first career goal was followed just three minutes later when Spencer Noon '13 (Farmington, Conn.) headed home a cross from Chris Lerner '13 (Canton, Mass.) to extend the Lord Jeffs' lead to 2-0. Noon's tally marked the fourth consecutive game in which he scored a goal for the Lord Jeffs.

Despite a concerted effort on the defensive end by the Fighting Scots (1-5-3), Amherst further widened the gap in the 31st minute when Ben Norton '14 (Denver, Colo.) finished a T.J. Kelley '12 (Walnut Creek, Calif.) cross for the commanding 3-0 lead heading into the break.

Kelley netted a goal of his own on a direct kick in the 60th minute to give Amherst a seemingly insurmountable 4-0 lead. Though Gordon's Kellen Kasiguran would convert a penalty kick for the Scots in the 62nd minute, that would be as close as they would get to a comeback run, eventually ceding the three-goal loss.

Ryan Coil recorded seven saves between the pipes for Gordon, while Saldana turned away two shots en route to the win. The Lord Jeffs will host Tufts University (3-1-1, 1-1-1 NESCAC) Saturday at 2:30 p.m. on Hitchcock Field.
