Amherst's Briody Named NESCAC Women's Lacrosse and ECAC Shamrock Lacrosse Division III New England Player of the Week

AMHERST, MA - Amherst College sophomore Alyssa Briody (Hopewell, NJ) was named the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Women's Lacrosse Player of the Week and the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Shamrock Lacrosse Division III New England Player of the Week after combining for nine goals and three assists in a pair of conference victories.

Briody scored a career-high five goals and assisted on two more in Thursday's 15-8 win over visiting Connecticut College and followed with four goals, including the game-winner, and an assist in Saturday's narrow 12-11 victory over Little Three rival Wesleyan University. She currently stands second in the conference in assists (2.0/gm), third in points (4.43/gm) and 10th in goals (2.43/gm).

Briody claims Amherst's third straight NESCAC weekly award and the Jeffs' second ECAC accolade in the last three weeks - senior teammate Ashley Harmeling (N. Reading, MA) received both honors for the week of April 4, and received NESCAC plaudits for the week of April 11.

Ranked third in the nation, Amherst defends its unblemished 7-0 (5-0 NESCAC) record today (Wednesday) at 4:30 p.m. against visiting conference foe Bates College.
