Seventh-Ranked Jeffs Blank Springfield, 4-0

SPRINGFIELD, MA - The seventh-ranked Amherst College men's soccer team won 4-0 at Springfield College on Wednesday led by NESCAC player of the week Mike Wohl's (Northampton, MA) two first-half goals. Senior quad-captain Michael York (Natick, MA) added his third score of the year and sophomore standout Joe Gannon (Hanson, MA) netted his fifth as the Jeffs improve to 6-1 on the season.

The Jeffs, ranked first in New England, wasted no time getting on the board as senior quad-captain Tim Canon (Easthampton, MA) found York 53 seconds into regulation for a 1-0 lead. Sophomore Adrien de Bontin (Kenilworth, IL) fed Gannon in the 11th minute to double the Jeffs' lead, and Wohl added his pair in the 29th and 34th minutes on assists from fellow rookies Phillip Boulay (Norfolk, MA) and Robert Madden (New Haven, CT).

Junior goalkeeper Dan Glenn (Berkeley, CA) had two saves for Amherst, and shared time in net with first-year Mohamed Zeidan (Eden Prairie, MN). Junior Tom Bowden and sophomore David Minkoff split time in goal for the visiting Pride and had two and one save, respectively. Springfield drops to 2-4-2 with the loss

Amherst returns to action Saturday at Noon against visiting NESCAC rival Middlebury College.
