PLATTSBURGH, NY - After a 24-day break, the Amherst College men's hockey team was blanked at No. 11 SUNY Plattsburgh, 5-0, on Tuesday night. Chad Kemp paced the hosts with a goal and two assists. With the loss, the Jeffs fall to 2-4-1 overall while the Cardinals improve to 6-2-3.
Plattsburgh drew first blood 17:17 into the opening period when Kemp blasted a slapper into the back of the net on a power play. Moments later, Rob Retter fired a wrister from the left circle, giving the Cardinals a 2-0 advantage heading into the second.
The hosts tacked on three more goals on their way to victory. Jeff senior netminder Jaffrie Perrotti (Winthrop, MA) finished with 41 saves while Craig Nelson and Curtis Cribbie combined to turn aside 21 shots for the Cardinals.
Amherst returns to action Friday at 7 p.m. at non-league foe R.I.T.
