Karen Lockhart

Karen Lockhart was hired in the summer of 2016 and enters her second year as an assistant coach on the Amherst College men's soccer staff.

Lockhart, a 2016 graduate of Bates College in Lewiston, Maine, was a two-sport standout for the Bobcats in both soccer and softball. During her career on the pitch at Bates, Lockhart scored six goals over the course of three seasons, and was named to the All-NESCAC Sportsmanship team as a senior. In softball, the East Greenwich, R.I. native broke the program's all-time team records in total bases, hits, extra-base hits, and doubles in a single season.

Lockhart served as an Upperclassman Mentor for three years as part of the "Getting it Done" program which is designed to guide, assist, lead, and grow positive changes in the Bates community, particularly with first-year student-athletes. She was also a two-time member of SAAC (sophomore and senior years), took part in the Bates Leadership Collaborative group during her junior year, and served on the Leadership Council during her senior season.  

Lockhart brings a variety of coaching experience to the Pioneer Valley as well, having served as a camp counselor and coach at various sports camps at East Greenwich High School from 2011-2015. She also serves as the soccer coach of Seacoast United in Topsham, Maine, and has since November, 2015. In the spring of 2015, Lockhart was a co-head coach for the Cole Middle School softball team in East Greenwich.

In addition to her coaching experience, Lockhart served as an office assistant to the Bates Athletic Department beginning in 2014. She is responsible for updating and organizing athletic team budgets, scheduling, and other administrative duties.

In 2013, Lockhart earned her USSF National "E" Soccer Coaching license.
