Mammoths shine in sweep of Westfield State

AMHERST, Mass. – The Mammoths continued their out-of-conference victories this evening against Westfield State University at 7 PM in Lefrak Gymnasium. The team improves to 7-5 on the year, with a three-game win streak.

The team will face Connecticut College on Friday evening this week for another NESCAC showdown.

MATCH HIGHLIGHTS

*Amherst built an early advantage of 9-3 in the first set from two back-to-back kills from Ellie Myers. The Mammoths maintained control throughout the rest of the match, spurred by kills from Liliana Brandt, Addison Lau, and Raegan Lentz. Two consecutive service aces from Naima Cho-Khaliq created a 22-11 Amherst lead in the match, and the Mammoths finished the first set victorious at 25-12.

*In the third set, Amherst maintained control. Behind two kills from Abby Nichols and Addison Lau each, the Mammoths built a mid-match 17-8 advantage over Westfield. A flurry of kills from Lau, Ellie Myers, and Liliana Brandt down the stretch helped secure a 25-13 Amherst victory, completing the three-set sweep.
