HADLEY, MA. – Three members of the Amherst College men's golf team were given All-NESCAC honors when they were announced today, with all three selected to the All-NESCAC First Team. Sophomores
Jan Ebbinge (Queensland, New Zealand) and
Andre Zhang (Davis, Calif.), and first-year
Thomas Zhang (Vancouver, British Columbia) were all honored with selections.
Ebbinge earned his second First Team nod in as many years after a sophomore season in which he consistently placed high in the standings. His strongest individual performances included finishing tied for 13th at NESCAC Championships (+14 over three rounds) and wining the Farmingdale State College Spring Invitational with a total score of 3-under over two days of competition.
A. Zhang, like his classmate, collected his second All-Conference First Team selection this year. He put down a bunch of notable performances, finishing tied for fifth at NESCAC Championships (+10 over three rounds), and winning the Dr. Tim Brown Invitational with a total score of 2-under par for the weekend.
T. Zhang continued the streak of Amherst first-years earning First Team honors, bursting onto the scene this year. The rookie tied for ninth at NESCAC Championships with a +12 over three rounds and placed second at the Skidmore Invitational last fall with a total score of 4-under over 54 holes.
The Mammoths finished another successful season with a fourth-place finish at NESCAC Championships at the end of April. Season highlights included being named Co-Champions of the Little Three, and winning the Duke Nelson, Bowdoin, and Skidmore invitationals this fall.
