WILLIAMSTOWN, MA. — The #19 Amherst College women's tennis team closed out its rivalry weekend with a 5–2 win over #17 Williams on Sunday at the Williams Indoor Courts, improving to 9–5 overall and 6–2 in the NESCAC. After a tough loss to Middlebury on Saturday, the Mammoths bounced back in a big way against another top-20 opponent, taking the doubles point and then controlling enough of singles to leave the rivalry weekend with a strong road result.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Amherst grabbed the early edge with a sharp doubles performance, winning #1 and #2 to secure the point. Cody Huang and Lily Dounchis won 6–3 at #1, while Tina She and Karolina Dobiecka were dominant at #2, rolling 6–1 to put Amherst ahead before the singles began.
- Williams picked up #3 doubles 7–5, but the Mammoths had already done the work they needed in the opening stage.
- In singles, Tina She delivered one of Amherst's biggest results of the day, winning 6–0, 6–2 at #1 to set the tone.
- Cody Huang prevailed with a hard-fought win at #3, outlasting Julia Zhang in three sets, while Greta Stechschulte at #4 and Rachel Roth at #5 both won in straight sets to put the match away. Amherst's depth proved decisive, and the Mammoths finished the afternoon with a convincing win over a ranked Williams squad.

Amherst now looks ahead to the final stretch of the regular season with momentum after a split on the weekend and a win over a rival-ranked opponent. The Mammoths have shown they can rebound quickly, and Sunday's result against Williams was a strong response heading into the postseason push. The Mammoths will host Wesleyan University on Saturday, April 25th at 10 AM, where they will be looking to win the Little Three Championship.
