Renwick’s Dominant 21-Point Performance Leads Mammoths to 65–38 Road Win

NEW LONDON, CT —

After a tough loss to Tufts on the road the night before, the Amherst College women's basketball team traveled to New London, Connecticut, on Saturday afternoon to take on Connecticut College. Behind strong team defense and consistent ball movement on offense, Amherst sealed a dominant 65–38 victory, earning a key win heading into the final weekend of regular-season play next week.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS:

  • The game stayed close through the first seven minutes of play before Amherst went on a late run to close out the first quarter with an 11–5 lead.

  • In the second quarter, Amherst built upon their advantage by forcing steals and finding success inside. Brielle Renwick sparked the Mammoths' offense, knocking down a three, recording key blocks, and dominating the paint on the offensive end. Amherst carried a comfortable 22-point lead into halftime, leading 35–13.

  • Amherst kept their momentum in the third quarter, extending their lead to 24 by the end of the quarter. Key three-pointers from Reagan Pahl and Annie McCarthy, along with McCarthy's aggressive drives and finishes, helped the Mammoths maintain control.

  • The Mammoths continued to build confidence in the fourth quarter, as Renwick once again dominated the paint and helped Amherst comfortably close out the 27-point win, 65–38.

BY THE NUMBERS:

  • Two Mammoths recorded double-doubles: Brielle Renwick finished with 21 points and 13 rebounds, while Chase Anderson added 15 points and 10 rebounds.

  • Amherst dominated in the post, scoring 36 points in the paint compared to just 6 for Connecticut College.

  • Overall, the Mammoths shot 47.2% from the field, 28.6% from three-point range, and 75.0% from the free-throw line.

UP NEXT:

  • With the win, Amherst moves to a 16–6 overall record (5–3 against NESCAC opposition).

  • The Mammoths will return to the court on Friday, February 13, when they face Middlebury College at home in LeFrak Gymnasium at 7 p.m.
