GAME HIGHLIGHTS:
Sunday, the Mammoths set the tone early, striking less than four minutes into the opening period. After sustained pressure in the offensive zone, Annabel Raffin and Cara Mancini connected to set up Marie-Eve Marleau, who buried her eighth goal of the season at 3:54. The even-strength tally stood as the game-winner and immediately gave Amherst control.
From there, the first period became a test of discipline and special teams. Amherst killed off a Hamilton power play midway through the frame, with Natalie Stott turning aside multiple chances to preserve the 1–0 lead. The Mammoths generated opportunities of their own on two late power plays, peppering Hamilton goalie Teagan Brown with shots, but Brown held firm to keep the deficit at one through 20 minutes.
The breakthrough came in the second period.
After another strong push in the offensive zone, Cara Mancini found the back of the net at 6:07, finishing a play created by Marleau and Maeve Reynolds. The goal — Mancini's first of the season — doubled Amherst's advantage and capped off a dominant stretch of puck possession.
Special teams continued to shape the middle frame, with both sides trading penalties and power-play opportunities. Amherst's penalty kill remained sharp, blocking shooting lanes and limiting clean looks. Stott was composed throughout, tracking the puck well and controlling rebounds to frustrate Hamilton's attempts to cut into the lead.
The third period saw Amherst lean into its defensive structure while continuing to generate chances. The Mammoths fired consistently on net, forcing Brown to make a series of key saves to keep Hamilton within reach. At the other end, Stott turned away every late push, including several shots during a Hamilton surge after a timeout with just over four minutes remaining.
With 1:42 to play, Hamilton pulled its goalie for the extra attacker. Amherst made them pay.
At 19:03, Maeve Reynolds sealed the victory with an empty-net goal, assisted by Marleau and Natalie Fu. The insurance tally put the finishing touch on a disciplined, high-effort performance.
Marleau finished with a goal and two assists, factoring into all three Amherst scores, while Stott's shutout anchored the win. It was Stott's 9th shutout of the season, which leads all Division III, and te 42nd of her career, an NCAA D3 record.
