AMHERST, Mass. -- The Amherst women's hockey team continued its dominant stretch with a 4–0 shutout victory over Oswego State, putting together another complete performance defined by balanced scoring, disciplined defense, and exceptional goaltending from Natalie Stott.
Four different Mammoths found the back of the net as Amherst controlled play from start to finish and earned its third straight shutout. It was the 38th shutout of Stott's career, extending her all-time Div. III record.
Amherst improved its record to 9-0-2. The Mammoths host Middlebury on Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
Oswego tested Amherst early, firing the first two shots of the game in the opening minute, but Stott was sharp from the opening faceoff, calmly turning aside both attempts. Amherst responded by settling into its game, cycling the puck in the offensive zone and forcing Oswego goaltender Mia DeVivo to make several early saves as the Mammoths began to tilt the ice.
The breakthrough came just over five minutes into the first period. At 5:19, Marie-Eve Marleau opened the scoring, putting home a rebound off a shot from Maeve Reynolds, with Clare O'Connor also earning an assist. The goal, Marleau's fifth of the season, rewarded Amherst's early pressure and gave the Mammoths a 1–0 lead.
Amherst continued to generate chances throughout the remainder of the period, with looks from Ayla Abban, Clara Cumming, Gretchen Dann, and Bea Flynn, while the defense limited Oswego to mostly perimeter shots. Stott remained steady, making key saves late in the frame to preserve the one-goal advantage heading into the first intermission.
The Mammoths wasted no time extending the lead in the second period. Just seven seconds after the opening face-off, Sami Lester scored her first goal of the season, catching Oswego off guard and doubling Amherst's lead to 2–0. The quick strike immediately swung momentum and set the tone for a strong middle frame.
Oswego earned several power-play opportunities during the second period, but Amherst's penalty kill was relentless. The Mammoths blocked shots, cleared rebounds, and denied Oswego any sustained pressure, with Stott making a flurry of saves during extended defensive-zone sequences. Amherst's composure short-handed proved critical in keeping the shutout intact.
At 11:59 of the second period, Amherst struck again. Gretchen Dann made it 3–0, finishing a setup from Natalie Fu and Annabel Raffin. The goal, Dann's eighth of the season, capped a stretch of strong puck possession and gave Amherst a commanding lead heading into the final period.
With a three-goal cushion entering the third, Amherst remained aggressive rather than sitting back. The Mammoths continued to forecheck hard and generate offense, forcing DeVivo to make several saves early in the period. That pressure paid off at 4:45, when Marleau netted her second goal of the night, converting a feed from Bea Flynn with Reynolds picking up her second assist of the game. The goal pushed the lead to 4–0 and effectively sealed the outcome.
From there, Amherst focused on closing out the game with smart, disciplined hockey. Despite additional penalty situations on both sides, the Mammoths' special teams and defensive structure remained strong. Oswego managed a few late chances, but Stott was flawless, tracking the puck through traffic and denying every attempt.
Stott finished the night with 27 saves to secure her third consecutive shutout, anchoring an Amherst defense that limited Oswego to few high-quality opportunities. Amherst also showcased its depth offensively, with goals from Marleau, Lester, Dann, and contributions across all four lines.
