#8 Amherst Earns First Top-5 Win of Season, Defeats #5 Bowdoin on Senior Day, 5–2

LUDLOW, MA – The #8 Amherst College men's tennis team capped off Senior Day with their biggest win of the season, taking down the #5 Bowdoin College Polar Bears with a score of 4–3 The Mammoths' seventh NESCAC victory took place at the Ludlow Tennis Center. The match marked Amherst's third consecutive win and their first victory over a top-5 opponent this spring. Before first serve, the Mammoths honored seniors Edred Opie, Sujit Chepuri, and Kobe Ellenbogen for their contributions to the program.

Amherst's record is now 13-4 (7-1 in NESCAC). Amherst continues their homestand on Wednesday with a non-conference matchup against the #41 MIT Engineers. The match is scheduled for 3:30 PM on Amherst's outdoor courts (weather permitting).

HIGHLIGHTS:
  • Amherst secured the doubles point by winning the doubles point for the ninth straight match.
  • Sophomore Rex Harrison dominated at #4, winning 6–0, 6–1 in 68 minutes.
  • Senior Sujit Chepuri recovered from a first set deficit to win his match at the #6 spot and clinch the victory for the Mammoths.
