#12 Amherst Falls to #4 Wesleyan in Little Three Showdown, 5-2

MIDDLETOWN, CT - In a high-stakes Little Three rivalry match, the #12 Amherst College women's tennis team came up short against #4 Wesleyan University, falling with a score of 5-2 on Sunday. The match was played at the Bacon Field House instead of Wesleyan's John Wood Memorial Tennis Courts because of inclement weather.

HIGHLIGHTS:
  • Amherst earned a convincing 6–1 win at #3 doubles behind Mia Kintiroglou and Greta Stechschulte, but Wesleyan secured the doubles point with a victory at #1 and a hard-fought 8-6 tiebreak win at #2.
  • Lily Dounchis earned a strong win at the top singles spot, defeating a nationally ranked opponent.
  • First-year Tina She dropped just two games en route to another convincing straight-set victory at #5 after yesterday's 6-0 6-1 win.
Up Next: With the loss, Amherst drops to 6-4 on the season and 2-2 in NESCAC play. The Mammoths will return home next Saturday, April 5, to take on the #38 Bates College Bobcats at 10:30 AM on Amherst's outdoor courts (weather permitting).
