GAME HIGHLIGHTS:
* After an up-and-down start to the first, the Mammoths took the lead at the 5:46 mark. In a play that developed in their own defensive zone, the Mammoths cleared the puck, where it was picked up by
Oliver Flynn. Flynn skated into the O-zone and dropped it back for a trailing
Ben Kuzma. Kuzma slid to his left, flipped the puck to his backhand and roofed a shot for the 1-0 advantage. However, Colby netted just 40 seconds later on a one-on-one chance right in front of the net, and the game was again tied.
* With the score still tied in the second frame, Amherst put themselves back in front in emphatic fashion with a shorthanded goal. A big block by
Zack Jesse started the break for the Mammoths, with
Bobby Luca collecting the puck and quickly going the other way. He left the puck for Flynn on the left and rushed toward the net. Flynn gave his captain the puck back and he slid the puck around the Mules' goalie and into the now empty net.
* But the Mules again responded quickly, tying the game up once again just under three minutes later. However, this time, the tie was short-lived. With just over three minutes left in the second period, the Mules netted their second of the period to take a one goal lead into the third.
* Just under two minutes into the final frame, the Mules got the insurance goal that they were looking for. On a rush into the zone, they were able to beat Mammoth goaltender
Connor Leslie with the puck crossing the line prior to the goal being knocked out of place to extend the lead to two goals.
* Despite having several chances in the third period, the Mammoths were unable to convert and ultimately lost to the Mules by a 4-2 score.
