AMHERST, Mass. – All six of Amherst's seniors scored in an offensive showdown against Williams College on Saturday afternoon, propelling the Amherst men's basketball team to a 75-51 victory in their final regular season game on Senior Day in LeFrak Gymnasium.
Amherst improved to 13-11 overall and 4-6 in the NESCAC, while Williams fell to 15-9 and 4-6 in the conference. The Mammoths will head to the NESCAC tournament next, where their opponent and location remain to be determined.

Canin Reynolds gave Amherst its first lead 47 seconds in, receiving the ball from senior
Bobby Sommers and converting a three-pointer to open the score 3-0. With 18:51 to play, an Eph layup sparked a 6-point Mammoth run highlighted by a layup each from senior
Will Scherer and senior
Ryker Vance, giving Amherst a 9-2 advantage with 16:42 remaining.
*Senior
C.J. Mitchell added three more points at the five-minute mark with an emphatic shot from behind the arc, giving Amherst a 6-point advantage over Williams at 12-6.
*A 9-2 run from the Mammoths between 13:04 and 8:54 remaining helped Amherst extend its advantage over Williams to 21-12. The period saw sophomore
Marc Garraud score 6 points off two layups and a jumper, while Vance netted a dunk assisted by the hot-shooting guard.
*With six seconds remaining in the stanza, tight defense from Garraud at the half line forced an Eph giveaway into the hands of Vance. The forward quickly passed back to Garraud, who sped down the court unopposed to score an easy layup and close the half 31-22 for the Mammoths.
*A three-pointer from Sommers stretched Amherst's lead to thirteen with 18:16 remaining after Garraud fed to the unmarked forward in the corner.
*After both sides traded buckets for the next five minutes, Mitchell inspired a 9-3 run with a three-pointer fed by first-year
Elias Chin with 12:51 remaining in the stanza. Vance followed up under one minute later with a layup as he spun around his defender under the iron for a layup. The forward added two more points with a dunk assisted by Mitchell with 10:03 to play to extend Amherst's lead to 55-36.
*Four different Amherst seniors scored in the final five minutes, including a three-pointer from senior
Noah Helmke with 45 seconds to play. Mitchell netted a jumper, Vance bucketed a jumper, and Sommers scored a driving layup within the period to help Amherst close the game 75-51.
BY THE NUMBERS:
*Amherst held an advantage in field goals and three-pointers converted, shooting 48.3% (28-58) of field goals compared to 34.8% (16-46) from Williams, and 30.4% of three-pointers compared to 25% from the Ephs. Both teams tied for free throws netted, scoring 66.7%.
*Vance led as the game's top scorer with 18 points. He was also the only player to record a double-double with 10 rebounds. Mitchell and Sommers came second and third in scoring for Amherst, netting 16 and 10 points respectively.
