Dann’s PP Strike, Stott’s 33 Saves Propel #2 Amherst to 1-0 Win

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. --  A power-play goal from senior defender Gretchen Dann in the second period was just enough to propel the second-ranked Amherst College women's hockey team to a 1-0 win over rival Williams College at Lansing Chapman Rink.

Amherst improved to 1-0-1 with the win.  Mammoth senior co-captain Natalie Stott made 33 saves in goal to help Dann's strike stand up/

Next up for the Mammoths is a pair og games next weekend (Friday-Saturday) ar NESCAC foe Connecticut College.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS:

* From there, the Mammoths leaned on their defensive core and their veteran leadership. Senior captain Emily Hohmann turned in a standout performance with three blocked shots, while Clare O'Connor added four blocks, helping Amherst neutralize sustained offensive pressure from the Ephs.

* The backbone of the win was Stott, who delivered yet another elite showing between the pipes. Stott stopped 33 shots in a commanding shutout performance, outdueling Williams' push in the late stretches of the second and third periods.

* Offensively, Amherst generated consistent opportunities, with Maeve Reynolds firing 16 shots as the Mammoths dictated tempo and kept the Ephs on their heels for much of the night.
In a match-up defined by grit, structure, and star power, Amherst's experience and special-teams execution proved decisive.
