MATCH HIGHLIGHTS
* The Panthers came out with a lead to start the first set, controlling the scoring early on. Initial offensive power for the Mammoths came from kills by Gabrielle Hines and Addison Lau. Judith Subirats-Bosch and Eleanor Jones each had a service ace, as well. The Mammoths fought hard to keep the score close, but a strong offensive run from the Panthers gave them a 20-12 lead. A block from Lau and Brielle Renwick, and a kill by Renwick gave the Mammoths some hope late in the set, but the Panthers maintained their lead and took the first set, 25-17.
* The Panthers looked strong once again in the second set, taking a commanding 11-4 lead. Tiana Richardson had two critical kills and a combined block with her teammate, Lau, to keep the Mammoths in the set. Additional kills from Lau and Hines, and a block by Hines and Renwick, narrowed the score to 14-18. This didn't stunt the Panthers' momentum, though, as Middlebury continued to rack up kills and blocks of their own. The Panthers took the second set, 25-19.
* The two teams traded points through the beginning of the first set, with Subirats-Bosch and Audrey Krichev each notching an ace, and Richardson recording a kill to give Amherst an 8-5 lead. An 8-point run by the Panthers put Middlebury back on top, 14-9. Zosia Teraszkiewicz had two consecutive kills, but it wasn't enough to match the offensive power of the Panthers. Middlebury took the final set, 25-15.
