AMHERST, Mass. – The Amherst College women's swimming and diving team won every event in a non-traditional dual meet with Babson College that exclusively featured relays and diving on Friday evening at Pratt Pool.

There were no team scores tallied in the meet with the program featuring unique events including 3x100-yard specialty relays and a 500-yard crescendo freestyle relay. Sophomores Paige Arnold and Lucy Smith were each part of four winning relay teams.

The Mammoths, ranked 21st in the nation in the latest CSCAA Division III poll, are right back to action on Saturday (Jan. 4), traveling to Union for a 1 p.m. dual meet.

* The cacophony in Pratt Pool reached its most fevered pitch after the formal conclusion of the meet when the two head coaches faced off in the pool. Amherst head coach Connor Beaulieu '14 and Babson head coach Eric Thurston, both of whom are 2014 college graduates, donned their caps and goggles to swim a 100-yard individual medley. The coaches were neck-and-neck after the opening butterfly leg, but Beaulieu pulled away in the backstroke leg. Thurston closed the gap on the final freestyle leg, but Beaulieu held on to touch first in 1:06.32.
