Cline and Pathak compete in CSA Individual Championships in the Big Apple, Pathak through to Semis of Holleran East

NEW YORK CITY, NY — On Saturday, the top two players of the Amherst women's squash team, senior Tanmai Pathak and sophomore Quincy Cline, were in Manhattan to play in the 2025 CSA Individual Championships. The Championships brings together the top collegiate squash players from across the country to battle it out in singles. The venue for the tournament is Open Squash, in the Financial DIstrict on 39th Street. Today marked the first day of the tournament that runs until Tuesday for the most successful players.

Amherst's Tanmai Pathak was placed into the Holleran East Championships, and her main draw match began at 2pm. Pathak, originally from New Delhi, India, has been playing at the top spot in Amherst's lineup during their dual matches. She currently holds a 6-5 season record and a 5.45 singles Universal Squash Rating (USR). In her quarterfinal today, Pathak played Gurlin Kaur of the #24 Franklin and Marshall College Diplomats. Pathak beat Kaur in straight sets earlier in the season when the two teams played each other, and won again today. This time, Pathak recovered from losing the first set to win 4-11, 11-4, 13-11, 11-2. Tomorrow, Pathak will play in the semifinals versus Lujan Palacios of the #3 Trinity College Bantams. This match will begin at 9:50am tomorrow. 

Quincy Cline, from Brooklyn, NY, has been Amherst's #2 throughout the season so far. The sophomore currently holds a 5-4 record and a 5.32 USR. Today, in the Holleran West competition, Cline faced Maryam Mian of the #6 University of Virginia Cavaliers. Mian prevailed over Cline with a score of 11-5 12-10, 11-9. Going forward, Cline has a bye into the consolation final, and will play the winner of Angle Otshabeng of the #23 St. Lawrence University Saints and Reshika Rajarathinam of the #29 William Smith Herons tomorrow at 12:20pm.
