#13 Amherst sweep #20 Bates at home, 9-0

AMHERST, MA — The #13 Amherst College women's squash team delivered a strong performance on Sunday afternoon, securing a comfortable 9-0 victory over the #20 Bates College Bobcats at the Davenport Squash Courts. 

Next up: This result boosts Amherst's season record to 8-4 overall and 4-1 against NESCAC opponents. Amherst will aim to carry this momentum into their next challenge. On Wednesday January 29, the Mammoths travel to Williamstown, MA, for a key matchup against NESCAC and Little Three rivals, the #15 Williams College Ephs. The game is scheduled for 5pm ET at the Simon Squash Center. Williams currently hold a 6-5 season record. 

GAME HIGHLIGHTS:
  • The Mammoths were dominant from top to bottom of the lineup., dropping just two sets. 
  • First-year Clara Dawn was the quickest to earn Amherst a win, winning with a score of 11-6, 11-1, 11-5 in just 15 minutes at the #7 spot. 
  • Senior Frances Burton earned her first win of the season at the #8 spot, overcoming Dainalee Velez in three tight sets,
