#14 Mammoths blank Camels 5-0 behind 2 goals each from Kays, Busler

AMHERST, Mass.. – The Amherst College field hockey team scored four goals in the fourth quarter to secure a shutout against Connecticut College Saturday afternoon on Hill Field. 

Abbey Kays and Caroline Busler each scored two goals for the Mammoths. Molly Donegan had the other. 

Next up for the Mammoths is another home game against Worcester Polytechnic Institute on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS

* The Mammoths scored the game's first goal after a penalty corner was awarded to Amherst. Once the ball was back into play, Chloe Agopian assisted Abbey Kays who swiftly shot the ball past the Camels' goalie and into the net. 

* Less than three minutes into the fourth quarter, the Mammoths were awarded a penalty corner, setting up Maya Harrington to roll the ball to Kate Smith who assisted Kays in scoring another goal for the Mammoths.

* The Mammoths secured another goal following  Kays' circle entry. Anna Aiello assisted Molly Donegan to a tip into the goal.

* The Mammoths continued to play an incredible offensive game in the fourth quarter when Isa Lattuada ran the ball across the field, setting up Sam Maynard to assist Caroline Busler in scoring her first collegiate goal.

* The Mammoths increased their shutout of the Camels when the fourth shot fired in the final quarter found the goal. Paige DiBiase assisted Busler's second goal and the fifth and final goal of the game.

BY THE NUMBERS: 

* Amherst had a 17-12 advantage in shots and an 11-2 edge in penalty corners in the game.

* Grace Pulchalski started in goal for the Mammoths and played the first half before Sara Nidus came on to play the final 30 minutes. Neither allowed a goal. Pulchalski made six saves while Nidus made one.
