Caroline Coletti broke out in her debut game with an unassisted goal to give ninth ranked Amherst College a 3-0 victory over Worcester Polytechnic Institute on the road to open their 2024 season.

Tonight's win gives the mammoths a 1-0-0 overall record for the season. They will face Connecticut College next, and will play the camel on the road this Saturday at 12 p.m.

 GAME HIGHLIGHTS:

 * Amherst came out with a ton of energy and dominated possession in the first half. Junior Ella (LJ) Johnson and senior captain
Alyssa Huynh facilitated many of the Mammoths most dangerous attacks.
* The Mammoths drew 5 corners in the first half, the third of which opened up the scoring for the Mammoths. After the second corner, junior
Kate Quigley received the ball in the right flank and drew another corner for the Mammoths. Johnson sent a beautiful service to the back of the six-yard box, where senior
Carter Hollingsworth found the back of the net after a flurry of attempts from a frenzy in the box to give the Mammoths a lead in the 15th minute. The first half ended 1-0.

 * After a short adjustment period for the Mammoths to acclimate to a formation change, the Mammoths continued to control the game, with a new attacking shape that allowed them to get many numbers in dangerous positions often. Only 10 minutes into the second half,
Caroline Coletti found the ball on the right flank, dribbled by two defenders with ease, and slotted the ball through the goalkeeper's legs to give the Mammoths their second goal and tally her first in her rookie season.

 * Amherst's final goal came with 5 minutes remaining in the contest. After sophomore midfielder
Becca Button had a run deep into WPI's defense to draw a corner for the Mammoths, senior
Fiona Bernet won the ball in the air with a lethal shot that bounced off the crossbar. Junior
Halle Hanna buried the ball in the back of the net to conclude the scoring for Amherst.
