ST. LOUIS, MO - First-year standout Andreas Sillaste fell short in the Elite Eight of the singles event of the 2024 NCAA DIII Men's Tennis Championship today. After winning his first two tournament matches yesterday, Sillaste could not continue his post-season run today at the Dwight Davis Tennis Center.

The Finland native, ranked #17 nationally, lost his Quarterfinal match to Vuk Vuksanovic, ranked #7 nationally, from the #6 Tufts University Jumbos. Lasting an hour and ten minutes, the score was 6-2, 6-3 in favor of Vuksanovic. Later that day, the Jumbo fell in his Semifinal match versus the #1 player in the country, Tristan Bradley of the #4 Bowdoin College Polar Bears.

Today's result ends Sillaste's impressive first season for the Mammoths. Sillaste came to Amherst this year after four years at the McCallie School in Chattanooga, TN, and he has excelled all year. The First-year won 16 of his 25 singles matches at the #1 singles spot, and 17 of his 24 doubles matches at the #1 doubles spot. With powerful serves and accurate volleys, his exciting tennis has placed him in the All-NESCAC singles and doubles team. He also received both the NESCAC and NCAA DIII Rookie of the Year awards.

Sillaste's inaugural season sets a strong foundation for his next three years with the Mammoths.
